Take Her Out
Wednesday, April 21st, 2010
Attention all Hands. This is Commodore Schreck speaking;
Effective Stardate 11001.23, By order of Starfleet Command the USS Columbia is launched to begin her shakedown cruise. With clearance from Chief Engineer Davies ship’s systems are all up and running and the engines are ready for warp. Our first assignment is routine patrol of the Romulan Neutral Zone. It has been several years since the last incident involving the Romulans and things appear to be quiet. Starfleet feels this is a good first assignment as routine patrol will allow for testing of ships systems. They also feel having one of the most advanced ships in the fleet on the border will deter any hostile activity. This is our opportunity to prove our ship is space worthy and ready for more difficult and exciting missions.
As part of this Captain McKean, I want you to run battle simulations with tactical personnel, I want tactical systems ready if needed. We will conduct a weapons test at the Starfleet test range on the way out. Please coordinate drills with Lt. Hutzingerand Captain Young to include security drills for repelling boarders. I don’t expect trouble on patrol but this will be a good idea for training and tactical systems testing as part of the shakedown.
Lt. Freeman, sciences needs to make sure all sensor systems are up and running for scanning the Neutral Zone as well as detecting any points of scientific interest that may be detected in route.
Lt. Davies, I want to know if their are any warp drive or other anomalies with the ship’s systems as quickly as possible. This is a new ship and something is likely to pop up.
We have built a good crew here and i think we should be able to handle anything that comes our way. We have a good ship and we are ready for the adventure to begin. Ensign Dorman take us out of space dock one half thruster power. Go to full impulse ’till we clear the solar system then set course for Neutral Zone outpost 1 warp 6.
